The history of Hotel Davanzati goes back almost a half century, and the Fuzier Cayla family who owns it has a tradition of running hotels for 4 generations.
Purchased in 1969 by grandfather Marcello, with the old name of Pensione TETI, the hotel was run by him and grandma Velia until 1981. In 2001 the family decided to make a brand new hotel out of it.
The works started in the year 2002 and lasted for 2 years. After a detailed restoration, Davanzati Hotel opened its rooms once again in 2004: with original Tuscan furnishing and with all comforts.
The hotel has now 19 rooms among which singles, doubles, superior doubles (king size bed & Sofà) and suites (bedroom with king size bed and living room with a sofà, that can be separated by sliding doors. Balcony on the roof).
Today grandpa Marcello, son Fabrizio and grandsons Tommaso and Riccardo are all working together there and, when they don’t put up a fight for who’s the most charming one (grandpa always wins), they’ll be happy to welcome you!
Our main goal during your stay will be to make sure you have everything you wish for always at hand before you even ask for it. Vacations are sacred and we’ll go more than the extra mile to make sure yours are unforgettable here at Davanzati. We are known for our level of service and we intend to keep this up: ask us anything and we will make it happen.
As any other jewel the hotel is not easy to find (you might want to check our location to get accurate directions) nor very easy to check into since there are 26 steps from the street level to reach our elevator. After those you can use it to access the lobby. In case you have plenty of luggage just ring the bell downstairs and someone of our staff will come to help you bring them up.
We have been asked many times why we don’t have an elevator reaching the street level and the answer is this is the price to pay to be located in a historical (therefore basically untouchable) building. We are in fact right next to the oldest florentine house: The Davanzati Museum.
Our now famous HAPPY HOUR is held every evening from 6:30pm to 07:30pm in the lobby and breakfast room. It’s a nice get together with complimentary Prosecco wine, Chianti red wine, nibbles and music. The perfect time to mingle with other guests and talk about dinner. We’ll suggest our favorite places and help you reserving.
The hotel is smoke-free and pets are not allowed. Rooms, common spaces such as reception/lobby and breakfast room are hot spots with free wireless connection. Our buffet breakfast is available from 07:30am to 10:30: At the bar they’ll serve you regular or espresso coffee, cappuccino, tea, hote chocolate or you can help yourself at the tables where you’ll find milk, vitaminic juice, orange juice, pineapple juice, chocolate, yogurts, bread, butter, marmalade, italian croissants, italian pastry, cornflakes, fresh fruit, fresh fruit salad, bruschetta with fresh tomatoes, salami, ham and cheese.
Our staff is at your complete disposal 24/7 to offer your services and advices as you need. Also, we can provide you with the following services to help you have a better stay in Florence:
– Museums reservation, to avoid any kind of queue, especially in high season stays. IMPORTANT: Museum reservation should be done AT LEAST 30 days before your visit this to ensure we’ll be able to find the ticket as when high season approaches the limited number of availabe slots ends up very quickly.
– Private driver reservation for picking you up at any airport or train station and guiding you to the Hotel or for excursions to all major cities and places of interest. (ask us for rates)
– In and around Florence guided tours with wine experts, drivers and country guides.
– Restaurants bookings all over Florence
A few meters from Davanzati Hotel you will be able to admire the beauties of The Old Bridge, Signoria Square, The Uffizi Gallery & Palazzo Vecchio, The Duomo with the famous Campanile di Giotto and of the most beautiful museums and artistic monuments of a city unique in the world.
